MARCO'S STORY

MARCO PENA

JULY 9, 1986 – AUGUST 17, 2000

At the age of 9, Marco was a healthy young boy playing and learning his way through life. In an instant, his life changed. Doctors discovered he had cancer in his left leg.  Two and a half years later, the cancer reoccurred in his right leg. The doctors worked steadily to save his life removing part of his tibia and     femur and continuously treating him with chemotherapy. Unfortunately, Marco’s cancer took over and    claimed his life.

Marco was an outstanding young man who achieved high academic standards and loved baseball, fishing, and hunting. His biggest dream was to own his own boat so he could go fishing with family and friends.   Thank to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Marco’s dream came true. He continues to share his boat with      family and friends.

Fulfilling dreams is part of the joy and that is why there is a Make-A-Wish foundation.   The Make-a-Wish Texas Gulf Coast Chapter is one of the 130 international locations dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of children under   the age of 18, with life threatening illnesses.  Each year we are challenged by the imaginations of the special children we serve in the area. Thank you for your support and thank you for caring.
